Housing Lab, in collaboration with Finance Ideas*, invites researchers to submit high-quality papers that explore trends, innovative solutions, and challenges in the Dutch housing market.

The selected papers will be presented at a seminar on 18 November 2025 (from 15:00–17:30, at Creative Valley in Utrecht (Stationsplein 32, 3511 ED), attended by academics, policymakers, and professionals from the housing sector. The full programme and location details will be announced later.

Objective

The aim of this seminar is to stimulate discussion and generate practical insights that contribute to the availability, affordability, and sustainability of housing in the Netherlands.

Prizes

A jury of academics and policymakers will assess submissions on quality, novelty, and policy relevance:
• Winner: €2,500
• Runner-up: €1,000

Possible topics

  • Effects of rent regulation on housing availability
  • Policy changes and housing production
  • Subsidies and their impact on new construction and sustainability
  • Effectiveness of measures to accelerate building and green investments

Guidelines

  • Summary: max. 300 words
  • Full paper (in Dutch or English), APA style
  • Both new and recently published articles (2024/2025) are welcome.
